Obituary for Grahame Peter Andrews

Grahame fought a feisty, determined battle with Mesothelioma that included extensive surgery in Toronto. He succumbed to complications a year later but not before travelling with Pam for one last time to his beloved France.

Grahame’s sense of adventure led him to reside and work on 3 continents. He was born during the war in Wolverhampton, England, the location where his family had been evacuated, later enjoying his childhood years in the family home near Primrose Hill in London. At the age of 17, Grahame left England venturing on his own to Australia where he first worked for General Motors and then on several engineering projects before launching on a 2-year world tour.

In 1976, Grahame arrived in Canada becoming the owner of a printing company and later a software company. He lent his many talents to local theatre groups (GVOS, TUTS, North Shore Players etc.) playing major roles for several years. Pam, his partner of 41 years, and Grahame met in a particular scene on the stage in one of these productions. Later, Grahame would add movie work and commercials to his repertoire.

Grahame leaves behind Pam, her siblings Brian (Anita) and Tara Smalley, nieces Teresa and Jennifer and children, as well as nephew Paul. In Australia, are his dear brother David (Jan) Andrews and extended family. His loved sisters, Lauren, Coral (Derek) and Susan Soertz reside in England. There are many valued Vancouver friends. Special thanks to Dr. Greg Phillips for his constant support.

Grahame’s impish grin and unfailing sense of humour will forever be loved and missed.

A celebration of life will be held at PAL, 581 Cardero Street in Vancouver on May 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation the BC Lung Association.
